CAP/Plaza de la Raza Youth Theater: Behind the Scenes Drama

Celebrating both the 20-year anniversary of CAP and the 40-year anniversary of Plaza de la Raza, this year’s original production from the CAP/Plaza de la Raza Youth Theater Program is a comical play-within-a-play developed collaboratively by writer-producer Nancy De Los Santos, writer Tomas Benitez, and 45 high school actors and writers. The play looks back self-referentially to the youth theater program’s own history of productions, and includes characters drawn from its previous plays. Behind the Scenes Drama brings plenty of music and dance—and much cleverly delivered humor. A Chicana originally from Chicago, De Los Santos is best known as the associate producer of Selena and Mi Familia. Directed by B.J. Dodge with choreography by Marvin Tunney.
