Cunningham Benefit

Merce Cunningham Dance Company and guest artist Mikhail Baryshnikov

Special Benefit Performance

“Merce Cunningham reinvented dance, and then waited for the audience.”—Mikhail Baryshnikov

The Cunningham Dance Foundation and REDCAT present an historic evening of dance and film with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and guest artist Mikhail Baryshnikov. This special benefit concludes the Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s final appearance in Los Angeles, following public performances of the premiere revival of Roaratorio (1983), featured as part of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center on June 4, 5 and 6 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The program includes Occasion Piece2, performed by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and guest artist Mikhail Baryshnikov, with music by John Cage from Song Books, performed by Paul Berkolds, Jacqueline Bobak, and Mark Bobak. The performance is followed by a special screening of With Merce, a film by Charles Atlas.
