Meg Stuart and Philipp Gehmacher

Meg Stuart and Philipp Gehmacher: MAYBE FOREVER

“Unfailingly imaginative, provocative avant-garde theater dance.” The New York Times

“Not to be missed.” The New York Times

Los Angeles premiere
The Sharon Disney Lund Dance Series

Two of Europe’s most engaging and eloquent choreographers come together to create a profound and touching duet that balances beautifully on the border between theater and dance. Fueled by hauntingly evocative post-blues songs performed live by acclaimed Belgian singer-songwriter Niko Hafkenscheid, MAYBE FOREVER unfolds on a large-scale visual installation by artist Janina Audick as it powerfully captures the whirling passions, fears and anxieties of love as it evaporates like a daydream. Since launching her Brussels-based company Damaged Goods 15 years ago, New Orleans native Meg Stuart has been commissioned by Mikhail Baryshnikov and has won some of the world’s most prestigious prizes, including the Mobil Pegasus Award, the Flemish Culture Prize, the Bessie Award and the Deutscher Theaterpreis Der Faust. Austrian dance theater innovator Philipp Gehmacher and his company Mumbling Fish have been featured at Europe’s leading festivals. See why The New York Times writes that Stuart “does not visit these shores often enough. A chance to see what she has been up to is not to be missed.”

MAYBE FOREVER is co-produced by Kaaitheater (Brussels), Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus, Ohio), Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), and Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (Berlin). Meg Stuart and Damaged Goods are supported by the Flemish authorities and the Flemish Community Commission. Philipp Gehmacher and Mumbling Fish are supported by the cultural department of the City of Vienna.

Funded in part with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art and Ovation TV.
