3 String Quartets:
Yusef Lateef, John Zorn and George Crumb
Three different configurations of the New Century Players perform three exacting, formally beautiful string quartets: the world premiere of String Quartet No. 1 by the Grammy Award winning composer and woodwind virtuoso Yusef Lateef; the alchemy and magic-inspired Necronomicon by pioneer John Zorn; and the darkly surreal Black Angels (Images I): Thirteen Images from the Dark Land by modern innovator George Crumb.
John Zorn and Yusef Lateef will be present for these events; however, they will not be performing.
Meet Yusef Lateef at a pre-concert talk at 7p.m.
Co-presented with the Los Angeles Music Studio. Funded in part through Meet The Composer¹s Creative Connections Program with the support of ASCAP Foundation, Copland Fund, Ford Foundation, Virgil Thomson Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
