Alistair MacDonald and Sarah Rubridge-Sensuous Geographies

"The piece is so inventive and original that you surrender easily to its infinite possibilities."—The Guardian

Alistair MacDonald and Sarah Rubidge present a richly textured responsive sound and video environment, a liminal space that focuses attention on the intricate sensations of the body and the subtleties of group behavior. Sensuous Geographies comprises polyphonic electro-acoustic soundscapes generated through the actions of visitors to the installation whose shadowy virtual counterparts are also projected onto banners. As visitors engage with the piece, they also become an integral part of the installation, which becomes a performative space as much as an immersive environment. The appearance by MacDonald and Rubidge is the first in a series of artistic exchanges between CalArts and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
