CalArts New Century Players: Contemporary Dutch Music

"The New Century Players perform with wonted skill and poise; one hears the music and doesn't worry about the very real difficulties of executing it." Los Angeles Times

U.S. and North American premieres

As an exceptionally vibrant and eclectic music hotspot in Europe, the Netherlands boast a wealth of up-and-coming innovators who are busy expanding the heterogeneity and freedom of contemporary musical content--and the role of music and concert programming in society. The New Century Players continue this season's ongoing survey of today's brightest Dutch composers with the U.S. premieres of Book of Mirrors by Rozalie Hirs and Shifting lines, shifting colors by Joey Roukens; and the North American debuts of 14x by Dante Boon, for louis couperin by Taylan Susam, Music for Viola, Piano and Ensemble by Robert Zuidam, Green Drake by Jacob ter Veldhuis, and Frage: worauf hoffen? by Peter-Jan Wagemans.

Funded in part by a generous grant from The Netherland-America Foundation and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York.
