The Fifth Commandment
Co-Presented by FITLA, The International Latino Theatre Festival of Los Angeles
Houston- based performance artist Elia Arce uses a sweeping combination of theater, music, film/video and installation in a provocative exploration of how personal ethics and moral beliefs collide with the act of killing during wartime. When is it acceptable to kill, and how do individuals justify their actions? Featuring a large cast that includes veterans of the Gulf Wars, The Fifth Commandment delves into recurring themes of defense, fear, patriotism, compassion, revenge, sacrifice and survival.
This project is made possible in part by a grant from the National Performance Network’s Performance Residency Program. Major contributors of the National Performance Network include the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Altria and the Nathan Cummings Foundation.
