An Evening with Billy Collins

An Evening with Billy Collins

A Benefit for the Patricia Bibby Scholarship Fund

Idyllwild Arts and The Summer Poetry Workshop invite you to experience an extraordinary evening of readings by Billy Collins, one of America’s most beloved poets. Recipient of the United States Poet Laureate from the Library of Congress in 2001 & 2002, Collins is a true American phenomenon—no other poet since Robert Frost has managed to combine high critical acclaim with such broad popular appeal. He reads from some of his greatest works in a rare Los Angeles appearance to benefit the Patricia Bibby Scholarship Fund, which allows beginning poets of promise to attend The Idyllwild Arts Summer Poetry Workshop. Patricia Bibby was a beginning poet whose kindness, humor and optimism inspired the love of many friends in the poetry community. The fund was created in 2004 after her death from breast cancer at age 43.

The reading is followed by a book signing and lavish Champagne and dessert reception featuring some of Los Angeles’ finest bakeries: Bluebird Bakery & Café, Clementine’s, Delilah’s, Jack n’ Jill’s, La Brea Bakery, La Conversation, Mäni’s Bakery & Café, Susina Bakery & Café and Sweet Lady Jane.
