Ever Present Orchestra: Works by Alvin Lucier

Ever Present Orchestra: Works by Alvin Lucier

“A unique sonic presence in the now.” DJ Sniff, Real Tokyo

“Lucier doesn’t create musical projects that are ‘experimental’ but rather conducts experiments that happen to be musical.”
—Tiny Mix Tapes

Ever Present Orchestra is a 12-piece ensemble dedicated to performing the music of experimental music legend Alvin Lucier. Based in Berlin and Zurich, it was founded on the occasion of a festival celebrating the American composer's 85th birthday. The orchestra makes Lucier's beating-pattern-focused instrumental music approachable for a wide audience with an uncommon instrumentation of four electric guitars, three saxophones, four violins, and piano. Alongside classical musicians, the EPO features prominent Lucier interpreters from other genres, such as experimental guitarist Oren Ambarchi.

The evening's repertoire includes Richochet Lady (2016), Braid (2012), Two Circles (2012), and Tilted Arc (2018), all performed by the Ever Present Orchestra and I Am Sitting in a Room, performed by Alvin Lucier.
