Grand Avenue Festival

REDCAT joins its neighbors for the Grand Avenue Festival with a variety of free concerts featuring world music, jazz and participatory workshops, including many of the musical ensembles developed through the Community Arts Partnership. In addition to the offerings at REDCAT, the Festival includes free performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Master Chorale, and other activities in conjunction with the Music Center, The Colburn School of Performing Arts, Grand Performances, Los Angeles Central Library and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Schedule of Events
All events will take place in the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT), which is located at 631 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, at the corner of 2nd and Hope Streets in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex. No tickets required.

11:00 a.m. “Violination” crazy music for violins and other animals.
12:00 p.m. The CalArts Latin Jazz Band
2:00 p.m. Vijay Iyer and Rudresh Mahanthappa: Raw Materials Piano and Saxophone performance.
3:00 p.m. The CalArts African Dance and Drumming Ensemble will present a lively performance, beginning with a processional on Grand Avenue, leading into REDCAT.
4:30 p.m. The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) program presents the Youth Mariachi de Plaza de la Raza.

In The Gallery
White Noise includes works by Artemio, Stefan Bruggemann, Felipe Dulzaides, Ruben Gutierrez, Rodney McMillian,Tercerunquinto, Laureana Toledo and Shirley Tse.

In The Lobby
Caricature artists from CalArts School of Film/Video will be drawing caricatures free of charge.
