Harryette Mullen

The celebrated Los Angeles poet has written six volumes of poetry, including Muse & Drudge, S*PeRM**K*T and Trimmings. Her most recent collection, Sleeping with the Dictionary, was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2002. The Village Voice has hailed her “infectious linguistic torques” while the Los Angeles Times has called her work “exuberant.” An associate professor of African American literature and creative writing at UCLA, Mullen has received the Gertrude Stein Award in Innovative American Poetry and a Rockefeller Fellowship from the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Women’s Studies at the University of Rochester.
