Jeffrey Inaba and Peter Zellner: "Sprawl is Almost OK"
Inaba and Zellner will speak about the phenomenon of "Sprawl Culture,"one that openly rejects architecture, and by association architects, in the development of the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, CA, and Orange County, China. Despite opposition, sprawl culture may be more influential than urbanity itself. For would-be cities everywhere, sprawl is almost O.K.
Inaba and Zellner are the co-founders of VALDES, a planning and architecture endeavor created to explore the world's suburban, low-density conditions. Both Inaba and Zellner teach at SCI-arc, the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
CHAT is made possible by the Herb Alpert Foundation.
