New Century Players

New Century Players-Experimental Americas 2

The New Century Players continue their exploration of new performance media from throughout the Americas with a program that includes a new piece written for the ensemble by Nick Didkovsky, a New York-based com-poser whose musical language blurs the distinctions between uptown and downtown, inside and outside. The concert also features James Tenney's Septet for six electric guitars and bass and his ’Scend for Scelsi for chamber ensemble; Stephen L. Mosko's theatrical piece Night of the Long Knives; Germán Toro-Perez's Rothko II for wind instruments and interactive computer system; a new work by Larry Polansky; and a revival of musical performance art concepts by the legendary Kenneth Gaburo, the late experimental composer and musical thinker.
