“Top 25 to Watch”
“... vulnerability and strength with razor-sharp shifts in intensity and intent..."
Three-time Lester Horton Award winner Maria Gillespie presents the premiere of Imperfection/Unsung, featuring her newly formed company Oni Dance and original music composed by String Theory. This work, which began its development last summer at REDCAT’s New Original Works Festival, dives into the conflicting needs for dependency and solitude through luscious partnering work, intensely weighted movements and kinetic wit. Also on the program are two new works-in-progress.
The creation and production of Imperfection/Unsung was made possible in part by funding received from the Dance: Creation to Performance program, funded by The James Irvine Foundation and administered by Dance/USA.
