Suzan-Lori Parks: 365 Days/365 Plays

"For an entire year, every morning I would wake up and write a play. For me, the process was great fun; it was also like a puja, or an extended daily prayer." Suzan-Lori Parks

REDCAT joins forces with the Center Theater Group and a league of theaters across the country to create one of the largest theatrical collaborations in U.S. history. In November 2002, while head of CalArts’ A.S.K. Theater Projects Writing for Performance Program, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks began authoring a play every day for one year, timing the completion of the final work to mark the official opening of REDCAT. Now the full 365-play cycle begins November 15 at REDCAT and other Music Center venues, launching a year-long national festival that includes productions at over 600 theaters throughout the United States.

Funded in part by a generous grant from The Herb Alpert Foundation.
