Jorge Satorre

Jorge Satorre: Pancha, the Colorful Bird and the Shining Snake

Opening reception: Sat, May 12, 6-9 pm

Jorge Satorre (b. Mexico City, 1979) investigates, collects and reinterprets historical events by interweaving fictional and subjective elements. With drawings, sculptures and texts, Satorre explores the relationships between the creators of stories and images and their receivers.

Satorre undertakes a new commission utilizing microhistory, an experimental historical approach. He creates suggestive settings that seek to recover forgotten memories, in order to investigate the mutation and transfer of ideas, objects and re-tellings.

The exhibiton is organized by Ruth Estévez.

Funded in part with generous support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
