About
How have technologies shaped and been shaped by sexuality? Mindy Seu considers the intimate relationship between our devices and ourselves in a series of performances that investigate the pervasive and perverted origins of our digital tools. Seu begins with an augmented reality reading of her book CYBERFEMINISM INDEX, which gathers more than 700 entries of online activism and net art as examples of radical technological environments in an encyclopedia-like form. In the participatory lecture performance A SEXUAL HISTORY OF THE INTERNET, these histories and citations are read by you, the audience, through a shared script on your mobile devices. Across both works, citations gather into a chorus—moving from a scholarly reference point to a score for alternative futures. Concluding Seu’s worldwide tour, A Recital of Citations proposes the citation as a means of making knowledge public and collectively rehearsing attention.

about the artists
Mindy Seu is an artist and technologist based in New York City and Los Angeles whose practice focuses on technology-driven performance and publication. In 2023, Seu published CYBERFEMINISM INDEX, a pseudo-encyclopedic book that gathers three decades of online activism and net art. Commissioned by New Museum’s Rhizome and awarded the Graham Foundation Grant, the book’s international book tour featured 89 performative readings across 18 countries with sold-out events at the New Museum (NYC), Whitechapel Gallery (London), Amant Foundation (Brooklyn), Lafayette Anticipations (Paris), among others. In 2025, Seu began touring a new lecture performance called A SEXUAL HISTORY OF THE INTERNET along with an eponymous artist book. The Fall 2025 leg hosted sold-out events at Pioneer Works (NYC), KW (Berlin), Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) (Los Angeles), and Museum of Contemporary Art (MOT) (Tokyo), among others. Her latest writing surveys online cultures, feminist economies, and the materiality of the internet for publications including Criterion Collection and Spike Art Magazine. She has lectured internationally at cultural institutions (MoMA, Barbican Centre), academic institutions (Harvard University, Columbia University, Central Saint Martins), and mainstream platforms (Pornhub, SSENSE, Google), and been a resident at MacDowell, Sitterwerk Foundation, Pioneer Works, and Internet Archive. Her design commissions and consultation include projects for the Serpentine Gallery, Canadian Centre for Architecture, and MIT Media Lab. She was recently featured on the front cover of the LA Times, along with profiles in Vanity Fair, Artforum, Frieze, Dazed, Brooklyn Rail, i-D, and more. Seu holds an MDes from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and a BAin Design Media Arts from University of California, Los Angeles. Seu is currently an Associate Professor at University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Design Media Arts
