CalArts Connection

Each season, REDCAT presents dynamic and far-reaching work by an international roster of innovative visual, performing, and media artists. Through performances, exhibitions, screenings, and literary events, REDCAT introduces varied audiences, including CalArts students and artists, to ground-breaking arts and artists from around the world.

REDCAT continues the traditions and extends the reach of its parent organization, CalArts, by supporting the commission, production, and presentation of today’s most challenging works. It also provides local artists the creative support they need to achieve national and international stature. Like CalArts, REDCAT encourages experimentation, discovery, and lively civic discourse.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access

As part of CalArts’ mission and values, and its IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Access) Cooperative, REDCAT along with the Institute, have redoubled their efforts to confront, address, and eradicate the structural, systemic, and societal injustices that are threaded through our communities. This cooperative is led by and housed in the Office of the President.

IDEA will help identify, foster, and spotlight the steps needed to keep building an inclusive, anti-racist community together. The IDEA Cooperative will make these measures and processes more transparent and will encourage financial support through grants, philanthropy, and open budgeting via the Institute’s established processes. REDCAT is committed to ensuring and supporting IDEA in all its policies and practices.

On Traditional Lands

We gratefully acknowledge that we operate on the traditional lands of the Tongva, Tataviam, and Chumash peoples including the Gabrieleño, Fernandeño, and Ventureño; members of the Takic and Chumashan language families; and other Indigenous peoples who made their homes in and around the area we now call Los Angeles. We honor their ancestors past, present, and future, and recognize their continued existence and contributions to our society.
