Angel City Jazz Festival
about the artists
Dan Rosenboom is an internationally recognized trumpet player, composer, and producer. He is known as a prolific member of the Los Angeles creative music scene, having released more than 25 albums of original music as a solo artist and bandleader, and has supported over 60 artists across over 100 releases on his label, Orenda Records. Rosenboom is a proud member of the Hollywood studio musician community and has recorded for over 200 major film and television soundtracks with such notable composers as John Williams, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard, Alan Silvestri, Alexandre Desplat, and many more. He has also performed with such elite ensembles as the LA Philharmonic, the LA Chamber Orchestra, and the LA Opera. His own music eschews genre distinctions and draws from such disparate influences as Black American Music, metal and experimental rock, contemporary classical music, folk music from the Balkans, and a broad range of progressive music from the avant-garde. He studied at the Eastman School of Music, CalArts, and UCLA, where he earned advanced degrees in music. The Los Angeles Times has called Dan Rosenboom “a musician dedicated to exploration and expression, regardless of anyone’s imagined boundaries,” and “a phenomenon.”

Alto saxophonist Devin Daniels stands out as one of the most unique and versatile voices to emerge from LA’s rapidly evolving creative music landscape. The Inglewood (CA) native has the unique ability to fit into any musical situation without sacrificing the integrity of his individual voice. That, combined with his warm and thoughtful personality, is why Daniels has been invited to perform with bands led by Gerald Clayton, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, John Beasley, Sam Barsh, and Jamael Dean.
The Angel City Jazz Festival—LA’s most adventurous jazz festival—was conceived in 2008 as a vehicle to present the best contemporary West Coast jazz and beyond. Since then the festival has grown into an essential multi-day celebration of creative jazz from around the world, at some of the most exciting & prestigious venues in LA, such as LACMA, REDCAT, Zipper Hall, the World Stage, Zebulon and 2220 Arts + Archives (formerly the Bootleg). The festival is presented by Angel City Arts, a nonprofit organization committed to cultivating and revitalizing jazz culture in Los Angeles by producing concerts by established and emerging music innovators who have brought forward a significant contribution to the evolution of jazz and improvised music. The Angel City Jazz Festival consistently features the most innovative and original musicians working today, balancing established artists with emerging talent and focusing on West Coast creative jazz, past, present, and future.
