TRADE SECRETS: Freedom of Information Act

Abigail Raphael Collins

About

In this workshop participants will learn how the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) was instrumental for Abigail Raphael Collins in making the film BLACKOUT, and learn how to submit a FOIA request of their own from an artistic perspective. This workshop begins by considering how we ask for information when we’re not aware it exists in the first place. How do we notice a blackout? Workshop participants are invited to bring a specific area of inquiry, to discuss the possible ways to submit a FOIA, and to think more broadly about the complexities of interfacing with federal agencies, especially in a political climate of extreme censorship.

The workshop is for artistic purposes and does not constitute legal advice.
